History of Verdi

IBC Digital, the developers of Verdi, have been building complex web software applications and administrable websites and intranets for government and corporate clients since 1995 using a variety of different web programming platforms.

The history of Verdi dates back to 2001 when IBC was successful in winning a Western Australian government tender to build a sophisticated state-of-the-art web application to allow a WA government department to fully create, manage and maintain its own suite of websites and intranets with minimal effort or technical input. At that time, such "content management systems" with the scale, power, reliability and flexibility required for government were not readily available off-the-shelf.

The new system, which became known as PortalMaster, was planned, built and fine-tuned to meet the needs of government users. Back then, it was built in ASP 3, now affectionately known as Classic ASP.

Other WA government agencies became aware of PortalMaster and its unique capabilities. Several organisations selected it as their content management solution of choice, and with the permission of the WA government, IBC built a generic version of the system to meet the needs of this more diverse range of prospective users.

In 2002, IBC entered a commercialisation agreement with the WA state government for the global sales of PortalMaster. IBC has continued to enhance the sophisticated software, and in fact over $2M of IBC resources has been invested in this ongoing development since 2001. The PortalMaster system has been totally re-built in C# to be a far more powerful and scalable ASP.Net product, now known as Verdi.

Verdi Version 4.1 is the latest version, with new enhancements including improved display modules, useability  advanced workflow integration and the ability to natively support Flash video files as content pool items.

Verdi is widely used in government and corporate environments and is available as a hosted service or as a system deployed on a client's own hosting infrastructure. There are currently multiple installations Australia wide within commercial, government and not-for-profit organisations.

Part of the reason that IBC Digital is able to offer the complete Verdi enterprise system at a relatively low price is that various government agencies have co-contributed to the costs of the software product during the course of its development.

Verdi is a proven and reliable CMS software product designed for use in government and corporate organisations. As we say, Verdi is everything you probably need in an enterprise web CMS, but without the enterprise price tag!
